TIETOKIRJA.FI is a non-fiction literary festival arranged in Helsinki, Finland every other year. This year 2021 the festival will be held for the eighth time on 25-26 August. Festival’s theme this year is Exception.
TIETOKIRJA.FI is a high-profile non-fiction event offering an impressive overview of topical issues and phenomenon.
The program will be streamed online. It is available to viewers free of charge during the event
and the recordings can be watched online after the event.
This year we will hear video greetings from international non-fiction writers Andri Snær Magnason from Iceland, Adam Rutherford from England and Irene Vallejo from Spain.
The festival is arranged by Finland’s biggest writer organisation, the Association of Finnish Non-fiction Writers, in co-operation with publishers and other operators in the book field such as Publishers’ Association and the Booksellers’ Association of Finland.
Andri Snær Magnason is an Icelandic writer and documentary film director. His book, On Time and Water (2019) was a national best seller in Iceland in 2019 and will be translated to more than 30 languages. Dr. Adam Rutherford is a British geneticist, writer and broadcaster. His last book, How to argue with a racist (2020), dismantles outdated notions of race by illuminating what modern genetics can and can’t tell us about human difference. (Phtograph taken by Stefan Jakubowski.)
Irene Vallejo is a Spanish philologist who for years devoted herself to tracing in ancient sources and the still untold stories of book culture.
